Welcome to Austin Boxer Rescue’s Hewitt Facility.

Austin Boxer Rescue’s dream to have its own boarding facility has become a reality.  With temperature controlled indoor kennels, our Hewitt facility will be the first stop for many boxers in need. This will be where their journey from forgotten to family will begin.

The dream could not have been realized without many fundraising efforts, the best group of dedicated volunteers and fosters, and generous donations from so many of our friends.

Donations of blankets, toys, collars, leashes, food and water bowls.

Food room cabinets filled with specialty food and treats donated to ABR.

Indoor shower area.

Bath area used for smaller boxers and special cases.

Laundry area furnished with donated washers and dryers.

Providing a safe and healthy place for our boxers is extremely important. Our facility has isolation kennels for new intakes. We keep the dogs in isolation (ISO) for at least 3 days in order to minimize the spread of kennel cough or any other contagious conditions.

Our outdoor kennels provide our guests a daily opportunity for exercise, sunshine, and a change of scenery. It’s a comfortable and relaxed area. Boxers are typically not out for more than 1 hour – depending on weather. It gets hot here in Texas!

We are always in need of volunteers at the Hewitt Kennel – you can fill out a volunteer application here – https://austinboxerrescue.com/volunteer/

Our Hewitt facility houses boxers just coming into ABR’s care while they await foster families – the next step in moving these wonderful dogs into their permanent homes. Foster families are vital to our process of rescuing these animals. Many of the dogs we take in may never have experienced living with a loving family. The foster program not only allows ABR dogs to experience the life they’re soon going to have and learn their manners, it also makes it possible for ABR to rescue more boxers in need.

Every two weeks, our Facility Director along with volunteers in Hewitt, transport the boxers to adoption day. Adoption Day is at 505 W. Anderson Lane, Austin TX. The event is from 9:30 am – 11:30 am (Rain or Shine).

Our transport van was donated by a generous benefactor.
