Austin Boxer Rescue
Success Story - Pepper (ABR Shelby)Pepper(Shelby) is AMAZING! What a love! She has fit in to our family perfectly. I can’t believe it has almost been a year since we rescued her. She LOVES my grandson and is so good with him and he LOVES her just as much! They are quite the buddies. Little did we know that we would add 3 more grand babies to our family just a month ago. One daughter had identical twin little girls and the other daughter had a little girl, so she will be busy licking, loving and playing with them all!I also have to tell you, you were right on with the 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months saying. It happened exactly as you said, great advice. The only thing that her previous owner had said about her was she was afraid of new people? It was true and we have taken it very slow introducing her to new people and let her do it at her own pace. It took 9 months for her to be completely comfortable, but she did it. Now, she still barks when someone arrives with that tail wagging and runs the other way, but then she approaches on her own terms and greets everyone. She is our 4th rescue and I am convinced once again that they KNOW that they need us and we in turn NEED them. Just had to let you know that we are in LOVE with our girl!Take care and thank you again for your advice and help ... See MoreSee Less

Success Story - Austin (ABR Nicholai)Austin was adopted by our family over two weeks ago. We were told he was a stray picked up in South Texas, treated at an ABR facility and then fostered by The Heaning family, who loved on him and helped him continue his health journey. After just two short weeks of being their first foster placement, we came looking for a perfect fit for our family. (The week prior we had tried out a different friend who didn’t work out due to aggression toward our other dog - later we learned he was named and virtually fostered by the Heaning’s also. Small world:-)We fell in love with “Nicholai” at the May Austin Boxer event and knew he would be a perfect fit after learning he had exposure with an elderly female boxer in his foster home. He was a surprise Sweet 16th birthday gift for our oldest daughter who has always dreamed of having her own dog. She immediately fell in love and named him Austin, since that’s where our paths met. When he came to us, he was very timid and filled with uncertainty. In just a little over two weeks, he’s gaining weight, finished his medication treatment plan and became pals with Harley, our 10-year-old boxer. Austin loves to share the bed with his momma at night, sleeps with his tongue sticking out and has the cutest pronounced underbite you ever did see. He loves car rides, understands where his crate is during the day and plays hard all evening. He will be working on some training commands this summer, but for now, he is “all puppy” and learning to live the good life of an inside dog with outside play time! Welcome home, Austin - you’re such a good boy! ... See MoreSee Less
