This past Thanksgiving, I adopted Martini Rossi, a brindle boxer, since renamed Misha. I was told she had been with Austin Boxer Rescue for a month, was very gentle, and good with other dogs and kids. She quickly settled in to her new home and her day job – she goes to a Skilled Nursing facility to visit the residents who live there. It is wonderful to see their faces light up when Misha comes around. One resident, who previously refused to leave her room, now searches the halls to insure she has her one on one time each day with her new friend. Misha is very patient and LOVES all the attention she now receives. She did not know her basic commands, but quickly learned (with the help of her favorite treat), how to sit, lie down, and stay. She brings joy to so many people; it’s hard to remember when she wasn’t with us. She thanks me every day, with a kiss to the chin, to show me how happy she is to have been rescued and given this second chance; but I know I am the one who received a special blessing this past Thanksgiving day.
