#NorthTexasGivingDay2024 | #NTXShareYourCarePrinciple Services will match up to $10,000 in donations made through their group giving page www.northtexasgivingday.org/group/Principleservices?fbclid=IwY2xjawFXW-VleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHQUJghP4...Harpoon was surrendered to the rescue and it was quickly discovered that he was unable to keep food or water down. A trip to one of our local vet partners revealed something in his stomach and after an exploratory abdominal surgery, the object turned out to be pieces of an air mattress! After surgery, he was continuing to cough, so more imaging was done and showed pieces of the air mattress were also lodged in his throat. Another surgery was unsuccessful at retrieving those pieces, so off to Texas A&M Veterinary Hospital he went! The staff at Texas A&M were able to move the pieces stuck in his throat into his stomach, and then remove them from there. After a couple of weeks recovering in a foster home, he was able to join the family that had been patiently waiting for him! He is continuing to do great--his family reports that he loves to go outside, loves toys, snuggles with everyone, and he loves following his fur sister, Izzy, everywhere. They named him Lucky and he is a very lucky boy!!Harpoon's Vetting costs totaled $7,702! We need our generous dog loving community to help us offset the costs so we can continue our mission to save boxers throughout Texas in 2025! Every dollar counts and every SHARE spreads the word! Today is #NorthTexasGivingDay2024! Every dollar and every SHARE matter! Please help us reach our goal of $15,000 so we can do more in 2025!Meet Barkham! Barkham came into rescue care Oct 20th, 2023. He was estimated to be about 5 years old and was running stray for at least a few months in The Valley on the South Texas border. He was finally caught, spent a few days at a temp foster home, and then went to his foster home in DFW on November 5, 2023 as a medical foster. While he was living on the streets, he contracted valley fever and as a result of the fungal lesions caused by it, he had extensive damage and no use of his back left leg and ultimately had it amputated. Don’t be fooled, he still ran, played, and got on the couch just like his 4 legged friends! He made a great and full recovery! Barkham did so well that he even ran off and found his very own forever family January 22, 2024! He is very loved, goes places with his family, and is living a normal, healthy life!He will need testing every 6 months and daily medicine for the valley fever, which the rescue covers. Barkham's surgeries and other vet care cost $2,300. Continuing meds are $255 every 2 months and titer test is $185 every 6 months.His medical care (including amputation procedure, testing, multiple vet visits, and medication) and the continuation of care provided by the rescue and vet partners is all possible in thanks to the generous donations of supporters by either virtual monetary fosters, donations, and most important NTX Giving Days!
