BOXER SPOTLIGHT: TUNA IITuna II is an owner surrender looking for a new home.Hi! My name is Tuna II! I am a beautiful 1.5 year old white boxer girl that is an owner surrender due to not getting along with the other dog in the home and for everyone's safety, I need to be the only dog in the home. I am described as active, protective, and nervous! I currently live with kids that are ages 18 and up. I have had exposure to cats and will intensely watch them, so it's best if I live in a cat free home. I am still young and will need continuing assistance with house training and crate training in my forever home. I eat Fresh Pet and Pure Balance dog food and sleep with the humans in their bed at night. If the humans must be away and I am left alone, I will get into things I shouldn't. I am afraid of things that are unfamiliar to me. When outside I do not attempt to jump fences/gates but I am curious what is under the grass and will dig to find out. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, balls, toy ropes, and pretty much everything! These wonderful animals just want a comfortable home to spend their remaining years. This program is especially for those who can provide special care for boxers which are older and/or in need of hospice care. To adopt a dog through the Silver Hearts program you must complete the adoption application process. The adoption fee is waived for the adoption of a dog in the Silver Hearts program. DFW Boxer Rescue will continue to pay for vaccinations, hospice care and/or euthanasia at the end of the dogs life through an DFW Boxer Rescue partnered veterinarian.These dogs have so much life left to live even though they are a little bit older. These dogs are typically easier to bring into your home and integrate with other dogs. They also tend to be calmer, more grateful for their second chance and overall easier dogs.There were 8 Silver Hearts adopted thru DFW Boxer Rescue / Austin Boxer Rescue in the last 12 months and there are currently 7 Silver Hearts in our care looking for their forever homes, as well as a couple owner surrenders on our website looking for new homes.
