Here is a recent photo of Laser taken on Thanksgiving. As you can see, he’s beautiful and healthy. We made it through heart worm treatment and will re-test in March. Laser is such an amazing adoption story. His original family gave up on him and surrendered him, but Austin Boxer Rescue saved his life. I’m so glad he’s mine.
Laser loves to give Boxer hugs, and he knows a lot of commands. He’s great with other dogs, and he loves my daughter’s Boxer, Joey. I’ve included a photo of the boys together. When Joey visits, Laser follows him everywhere. At the time I was ready to adopt, I had another dog in mind, but I agreed to meet Laser. Laser’s foster mom brought him for a visit and she told me he was a wonderful dog. I knew that day that he was the Boxer for me. Laser is everything she described and more.
Since arriving at my home, Laser’s put on a few pounds, and now he plays more than ever. His energy level is excellent, even though he is not a real young Boxer. I’m so glad I took a chance on him because older Boxers really do make excellent pets. Laser is good with kids and visitors. He’s not crazy about cats, but he doesn’t have to be — we don’t have any. Sometimes on his daily walks Laser thinks he would like to chase a cat or two, but a few calming words gets him back in “tourist” mode. We walk at least a mile in the morning and a mile in the evening seven days a week.
I think Laser can almost tell time by the way he sort of perks up when it’s getting close to the time to go out. There are no adequate words to express how much I love this dog. Laser seems to appreciate everything I do for him because it’s after feeding, walking, or just petting him that I get a Boxer hug. Pictures say more than words sometimes. I think these photos of Laser show that he’s comfortable and happy in his forever home. Thanks again to everyone at Austin Boxer Rescue for caring so much and matching me with this great guy.
