We know you’ve heard this before, but once an ABR Boxer, always an ABR Boxer. Jamice began having difficulty getting along with other dogs after living with them in her adoptive home for several years, so she came home to get a fresh start and make sure she, and her former buddies, were all safe. Jamice is a delightful, loving, people oriented girl who is happy to live as an only dog. This 4 year old is about 84 pounds, deaf, with a white coat and pretty pink face.
It is not unusual for female Boxers, especially deaf female Boxers, to be very picky about their dog friends. She can be startled by dogs or humans, so ABR does not place deaf dogs with young children who may not understand. Jamice loves to snuggle, the closer the better, and loves to be petted and touched. She’s a low key girl that just likes to be with her people.
Jamice is house and leash trained and does well in a harness after she’s walked a bit. Like many deafies, she does not like being alone, but she loves car rides and baths and especially being dried off. White Boxers tend to have allergies and Jamice is not an exception, but daily meds like Benadryl usually resolve that. She knows hand signs: Hi: Wave, Come here, Stay: hand up like stop, Ok: ok sign with finger and thumb, Eat sign: Hand to mouth and/or rub belly, Sit: Make a fist and raise up like you’re holding a treat, Good Girl: Thumbs up, clap.
Jamice is heartworm negative, healthy and fully vetted. Many adopters who have lived with deaf dogs rave about their trust and loyalty and the special bond they create with their humans. ABR is proud to help Jamice with a second chance now we know more about what she needs to be comfortable and safe. She is one big bundle of love and loyalty looking to share that with a special person.
