I wanted to give an update on our partner DFWBR Leon that was pulled this morning from Balch Springs.His foster mom said he was very sweet and allowed her to carry him into the er this morning ❤️The vet said he's doing great, the bone does have some infection, not surprised because it's a pretty old injury. So she's started him on antibiotics to help that and some Gabapentin and Carprofen for pain, even though he's really not acting painful. They're going to keep it bandaged with daily bandage changes just to keep from introducing any new bacteria before his surgery on Thursday. He's a little anemic (not surprising there), so they'll do another CBC before surgery to make sure that's not getting worse, but I imagine that will drastically improve within 48 hours of the amputation. She said he is SUPER sweet and they haven't had to sedate for anything, he's just been a really good boy for everything. ❤️The estimate for the amputation they will be performing Thursday, as well as neuter and microchip is right at $2,300. He will stay at the vet until his surgery and then go home to recuperate. He is unfortunately heartworm positive 💔Please keep him in your thoughts, he sounds like he is doing very well, all things considered, and hopefully will come through surgery with flying colors! ...
