Named in honor of a dog that did not make it out of the shelter.
This sweet young guy is named Melvin. He’s a handsome brinde boy about 2 years old. He’s pretty new to rescue in early July and still has reminders of his journey like calluses from too long on concrete, some scars probably from a fight, and his coat’s a bit rough from not having very good care. But now he’s in a foster home getting a bath, good food, lots of love and security. He will be fully vetted and neutered shortly, and even though he is heartworm positive, he is not symptomatic. ABR always helps with treatment and will explain the options.
Melvin is in a foster home with other large and small dogs and cats. He does fine with the other dogs, but not so great with the cats. He has met kids but does not live with any at this time. He is a medium energy guy with very good manners who is house, crate and leash trained. He likes toys, especially squishy squeaky ones.
This beautiful brindle boy will be ready for the next step in his journey fairly soon. His forever family can help him continue to heal and feel safe and loved as part of the family.
