Gladys is a superstar who came to ABR after living her entire life with a family who is experiencing significant hardship. Sadly they were no longer able to care for this sweetheart and she was surrendered to a shelter in the Hill Country. As tragic as this is, Gladys’s attitude is one of gratitude and joy. This petite lady is an exceptionally happy and good-natured dog who is an absolute delight!
From moment one, Gladys has been the perfect guest in her foster home. She has not had one accident in the house and sits by the door when she needs to go outside. She loves soft places and happily stays in her kennel while her foster mom is at work but has also been fine being uncrated. Gladys enjoys going for a walk and hops right up in the car for a ride. She is not interested in toys but does enjoy the occasional game of chase when one of her boxer foster brothers will play along. This little lady does not act her age! She’s spunky! We suspect that Gladys lived in a somewhat rural area because she initially acted very surprised to see people and other dogs walking by the house. She is an excellent guard dog and is always on high alert!
Gladys walks nicely on a leash and would be an excellent companion for someone who wants a gentle dog that requires no training and very little exercise. She does not currently live with children but she did in her past life. The ABR volunteer who transported her from the shelter had a toddler in the backseat with Gladys and she perfectly gentle and loving with that child. Her favorite thing to do is snuggle….followed closely by mealtime! This girl loves her meals.
Gladys is part of ABR’s Silver Hearts program, meaning that there is no adoption fee required. This jewel just needs a place to lay her sweet head and share her love.
