Bourbon is his name and we thought his foster mom might need a shot or two to take care of this guy. Turns out he just needs to make sure someone is protecting him, has his back. His adventures into a home, a family, a well behaved pack of Boxers is so new to him that he is very unsure of himself. Clear rules, patient guidance, support and repetition are allowing Bourbon to grow. He is learning how to play and interact with other dogs and people too. He is sweet natured, just very inexperienced.

Bourbon is a beautiful brindle boy on the smaller, stockier side for a male Boxer. He’s about 3 years old with a docked tail and natural ears. He is, remarkably, house and leash trained, and while he shows some separation anxiety, his foster mom is easily managing it with the proper crate and minimal correction. He is heartworm positive, not symptomatic, and ABR helps with treatment.

Bourbon is gradually getting his bearing and, becoming just a bit more confident each day. Helping him get more comfortable is a project that pays off in soft kisses, nub wags, and the thrill of watching him do new things on his own. He can bark a bit so apartment life is not for him. But if you have the patience to help him grow at his pace, you will have a loyal friend for many years.
